Review: Rimbaud's Echo

Renata Emther writes naked poetry. Her loves and losses, flaws and fantasies are laid out in a tantalising buffet -- but the words themselves are only an appetiser. Once consumed, they infuse the reader with a desire to know more, to search further, to live more vigorously. Emther not only explores emotion and personal experience, she also dives into philosophy and a rich literary background, using intertext and cultural references to extend her poetry and link it inextricably with centuries of written history. 'Anne and Sylvia tried to tell me so many times... but I did not listen. I still do not. "Surrender" is a word I will never learn.' (Tongues) Rimbaud's Echo is often challenging, even confronting, but unraveling these exquisite words is always rewarding. Let Rimbauds Echo be the voice that whispers to you in your dreams.
